Four new popular types of silicone breast implants known as “gummy bear” implants have been approved by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration. These gels, the Mentor MemoryShape breast implants, are preferred by Dr. Tim Love, the leading plastic surgeon in Oklahoma City.
“We’re proud to have been using the CSG (cohesive silicone gel) implants from Mentor for many years and going forward we know that these products will continue to provide effective and safe alternatives for women seeking breast augmentation,” said Dr. Tim R. Love, MD, who has been part of a set of surgeons authorized to use the gels for years. His years of experience are unmatched in his region.
“This product line demonstrates our commitment to meet the needs of plastic surgeons and their patients with an expanded range of shaped styles and sizes of implants that have demonstrated excellent patient satisfaction and safety in our long-term study,” said David J. Wilson, President of Mentor Worldwide LLC.
Gummy bears implants have the advantage of being very soft to the touch and natural feeling to the patient. They can be made into any shape and they are very stable. In addition, gummy bear implants do not have many of the risks associated with saline implants, the other alternative for breast augmentation.
Dr. Tim Love has been performing plastic surgery for more than 25 years in Oklahoma City and he’s helped patients from all over the state, in Texas, and elsewhere across the country, His expertise and leadership are respected in the industry.
Since 1997, Dr. Tim R. Love, MD has participated in five national clinical studies sponsored by breast implant manufacturers Mentor Corporation and Allergan. As one of the select 30 plastic surgeons in the U.S., Dr. Tim R. Love, MD conducted the largest single study site with nearly 100 of the 1,000 patients nationwide. This CORE Study, sponsored by Allergen, provided data which was directly responsible for the FDA’s release of silicone gel breast implants in the U.S. in 2007. Dr. Tim R. Love, MD was later tapped for groundbreaking research as one of the few U.S. plastic surgeons to explore the newest technology in implant devices for both cosmetic and reconstructive patients: cohesive silicone gel.
“Previous generations of silicone breast implants could rupture and go undetected unless specifically evaluated with mammograms, ultrasound or MRI,” Dr. Tim R. Love, MD said. “The advent of solid silicone gel breast implants provides for no leakage of silicone and thus greater peace of mind.”
