It appears that an increasing number of senior citizens are opting for cosmetic surgery in an effort to gain or retain a competitive edge and stay in the work force.
A study released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons shows that baby boomers (who are working later into their lives than any previous generation) are taking advantage of cosmetic surgery and non-invasive procedures to make them more employable and productive.
The study reveals that the number of people over the age of 55 who have opted for cosmetic surgery of some kind has increased in the last several years.
“Many people in their 50s and 60s who are looking for work find their age can be a real barrier to landing a new job, even though age discrimination in employment is illegal,” John Rother, former executive vice president of Policy, Strategy and International Affairs at AARP told The Fiscal Times.
This is a trend that we’ll continue to keep an eye on in the future. Contact Dr. Tim Love if you have any questions about plastic surgery or any of the cosmetic procedures we offer in Oklahoma City.
